HITN Saved Thousands By Embracing Cloud Mobile Device Management To Distribute Educational Apps.

Hispanic Information and Telecommunications Network, Inc (HITN) was established in 1983 as the first U.S. Latino-controlled, non-commercial, Non- Profit, Spanish-language, media company delivering educational programming to millions of homes nationwide.

The Problem

HITN recently launched research-based mobile applications geared to boost school readiness and early learning through a program created by HITN called the Early Learning Collaborative (ELC) funded in part, through a Ready to Learn research grant by the US Department of Education Office of Innovation and Improvement. During the launch of this program, HITN faced a challenge to develop these applications and some how distribute the applications Over-the-Air to classrooms designated as focus groups to test the application and gain invaluable feedback.

    HITN tasked Xperteks® to deliver a solution that would be cost-effective and easy to use to manage and distribute these mobile applications quickly and reliably. HITN needed to distribute the application to over 300 mobile devices spread across the nation. HITN also required having an asset management component to track these devices and ensure that they kept with standards specified by the application development team.

    Xperteks® presented HITN with a turnkey, out-of-the-box mobile device management solution through their strong partnership with Fiber link, a Cloud-based Mobile Device Management software provider. Through this partnership and vendor management, Xperteks® was able to successfully implement and provision all 300 iPads with Xperteks® MDM solution. This allowed HITN to have the asset management they required, and the ability to continually update, revise, and distribute multiple applications to all sub-scripted iPads in HITN’s inventory.

    As a result, HITN saved ten’s of thousands of dollars on equipment, software and infrastructure development time. Xperteks® managed the distribution of these applications through a simple request via Xperteks® helpdesk ticketing system. HITN only had to add this service to their existing managed services program, which already included 24/7 network monitoring, onsite support, network management, desktop management and vendor management.
