“…because of Millennials!”

Leveraging Microsoft Teams is great way to support the changing demographics in the workplace.

According to a Pew study, the millennials account for around 54 million, globally and this number is rapidly increasing! They’ll soon make up the majority of the workforce and every 3 out of 4 workers will be millennials.

Millennials demand real-time collaboration where people work in groups on a project at the same time.

As social media has been an active part of their life, they thrive to socialize and collaborate across all aspects of their life, whether it be working out in the gym or sipping coffee at a coffee house.

Thus, the demand for working remotely has increased over the years and they can yet stay connected to their colleagues through Microsoft Teams!

The Dynamics of Millennials

Microsoft surveyed around 1,000 millennials about their work preferences as a way to study this modern workforce. They studied the changing working patterns such as working from anywhere at any time and having a mission objective that helps gain a better perspective of their jobs.

Microsoft understood that it’s important to start taking notice of this dynamic nature of millennials as they’ll be taking over leadership roles as well as many vacant opportunities left behind by Gen X and Baby Boomers in multiple sectors.

The company also saw a 40% boost in productivity of the employees under their ‘Work-Life Choice Challenge 2019 Summer’ project that reduced the workweek by one day, making it a 4-day-work-week at Japan’s office.

Microsoft made sure that the amount of time spent in meetings as part of the project was less than or equal to 30 minutes and they also encouraged remote connections.

Not only did employees benefit from this experiment but it also helped the company preserve electricity and increase server uptime among other benefits.

4 Major Advantages of Microsoft Teams

There are myriads of collaboration tools out there, but the core reason that SMBs will be utilizing Microsoft Teams in the future is that it increases an organization’s capacity to collaborate,  and more importantly, they can collaborate securely,” stated Marcial Velez, CEO of Xperteks.

1. Enhanced Communication

The fact is that SMBs are going international doing business with suppliers and vendors across borders.

The demand for bridging language barriers has proven to be key in keeping businesses ahead of the curve when it comes to collaboration.

Microsoft Teams provides features to instantly translate languages in the chat or messaging with one-click.

It allows you to have threaded conversations, helping you store meeting sessions, conference calls, and other brainstorming data into one, easy-to-find place.

You don’t have to go through thousands of emails looking for a certain conversation. With Microsoft Teams, you have it all at your fingertips!

2. Scheduling At Ease

Microsoft Teams syncs with your calendar and joins your existing appointments within each dedicated team.

It provides you with the option to choose if the meeting is private or public, useful when you’re hosting a voluntary brainstorming session.

Once you have set up a meeting, you and the attendees can post about the meeting in a separate chat thread, set reminders, as well as upload agendas and relevant documents.

3. Security & Compliance

Microsoft’s prime priority is to keep its users safe. When you introduce flexibility in the business organization’s working pattern, security is at stake and sometimes compromised.
