It has a side by side comparison of both Fusion and Parallels. The tests which MacTech ran show that Parallels runs 14-20% faster then Fusion.

Thank you Ashley, That's extremely helpful! There was another article from MacWorld on Fusion 3 where they gave it 4 out of 5 Mice, But the commentary was divided. I'm curious to know from your perspective, what are the differentiating factors for Parallels from Fusion. Is it performance, 3D acceleration, Ease of Use, Migration??

Re: Causes of Data Loss

According to the Ponemon Institute, it's lost or stolen laptops.
In a recent US study entitled "The Human Factor in Laptop Encryption," the Institute determined that:
• 92% percent of IT security practitioners reported that someone in their organization has had a laptop lost or stolen.
• 71% reported that the loss of the laptop resulted in a data breach.
• Only 45% reported that the organization was able to prove the contents were encrypted.
• 56% of business managers have disengaged their laptop's encryption solution.
• 59% of business managers sometimes or often leave their laptop with a stranger when traveling.

In 2009, data breach incidents cost U.S. companies $204 per compromised customer record.
Healthcare and financial services companies lose the largest number of customers from data breaches--about 6.5% and 5.5% respectively

Using Stateless Computing seems to be the Ultimate Security Solution. We are proud partners of Symbio Technologies who provide such solutions.

Re: Macs Vs. Windows

It also depends what you need to get done. If you play computer games, a physical Windows machine will almost always be better than a Mac or a Virtual Machine. Though now with Parallels 5, that might soon change. Unfortunately, Mac's have never been that great when it comes to games, though more and more developers are coming out with games for the Mac alongside their Windows release or not too far behind. www.macworld.com/article/145199/2010/02/dragon_age_origins.html being a good example. So the gap is slowly closing for what you may use one or the other for, but for the time being, Windows machines are still superior.

Re: Macs Vs. Windows

Ultimately, everyone has a personal reference, Windows users love what Windows software can do for them and they are happy. Mac Users almost always become the Mac Faithful, it has been that natural order now for a long, long time. With the ability for Macs to easily emulate windows on either Laptops or Desktops (Vmware Fusion or Parrallels), then for you to have best of both worlds, its nicer to have a Mac. But if you don't need the Mac software or don't even care about how well it works, then budget yourself a Windows machine, and compute to hearts content.

For those of you who don't follow hacking sites, Safari hasn't fared very well the past few years, www.computerworld.com/s/article/9129978/Researcher_cracks_Mac_in_10_seconds_at_PWN2OWN_wins_5k And this year it probably won't do very well Either. Windows 7 seems to have gotten it right though, www.macworld.com/article/146483/2010/02/pwn2own_safari.html

That is actually an old article relating to 10.5.6. Leopard is upto 10.5.8 and Snow Leopard is upto 10.6.2. So far, for business use, Snow Leopard is very well done. Obviously there are incompatibilities with lots of software: snowleopard.wikidot.com/ but it runs very well.

Easy. MAC!

1. No viruses or spyware

2. No RPC, DLL, or super vague error messages.

3. No 5 hours configuring drivers for every add-on.

4. No yellow bubble constantly reminding me to update this, that, and to do my laundry too.

5. I can throw most things away without having to reboot and reconfigure.

Shall I continue???
